Something new I did today.  HA! Now that I think about it, it's the first piece Ive done in 2015! 

It's been so dreary out sense the start of 2015 and I am starting to wonder if we will ever see the sun again.
I think because I am dreaming of warmer weather and for Spring to hurry up and come this little beau came to be.

Guess what y'all...

My daughter is getting married!

WHOOPIE!

Thankfully I have a little time (Oct 2015) but I am sure it will creep up on us and be here before we know it. 

I decided to try my hand on a few wedding decor ideas.

This one is my first one. 

This is a hand painted mixed media shabby-rustic-cottage style sign that I did on a flat 8x10 canvas panel.

I used acrylic paints, gloss paints, colored pencils and paint pens then varnished everything in a light coating of a gloss spray. Afterwards I added a fun black flower with rhinestone and pink and grey pearls and some pink rhinestone edging around the sides. 

I love how this one turned out.  

It is currently available over in my ETSY SHOP and I hope to be making more fun wedding decor that can be used in my daughters weeding and some that perhaps someone else would love to use in theirs.

Baby Monkey Mixed Media Artwork that I did

I had so much fun ripping papers and painting my mama and baby bird and owls that I wanted to do something else. So, I did a baby monkey! Aint it cuuute? Figured this one would be cute to hang in a little boys room.

Mixed Media Artwork Mother Bird and Baby

Ahhh yes, Spring has sprung around here and it makes me HAPPY!!

I decided to do a cpl new Mixed media paintings that bring fun and cheer to the warmer days ahead.

 I started off with this one using a 9x12 stretch gallery style canvas and scrapbook papers 

and some paint..

and then I added some fun embellishments and came out with this..

Cute, right?!

Mixed Media Angels on wood

It has been awhile sense I painted anything that was not EOD related. So,  I was in the mood to do something mixed media and I had some scrap wood laying around and here is what I did.

I am really happy how these beauties came out. 

Painting's were done on a reclaimed wood and measures 11 inches tall and is 5.5 inches wide and is 3/4 inches thick.

Mediums used for each piece include Acrylics, color pencils, oil pastels, glitter paint, and some stamping.
Sides and the backside have been painted in a dark grey The wings and halo have been accented in glitter paint. This has been coated in a clear glossy varnish to help protect the art and to bring out the colors.

Below are a couple pics I took as these were in the works. 

I forgot how much fun it was to work with Mixed media. Think I will go make something for Easter now sense I have a cpl more pieces of wood to play around with.

I call this one "Krazy Kaily Kat"
My own kitty named haily was the inspiration for this.
I plan on making more kitty cats in this series sooo stay tuned.

New Mixed media painting

This is a new painting technique that I am learning about. Mixed media. Sure I have done mixed media art before but not like this. It starts off almost kindergartenish using scraps of paper, scraping paints on etc. really funny and dimensional. Then once you have that all down you then look at your "mess" and make something from nothing. I wish I took a pic of what this started out as. For my first one I am pleased and do plan on doing more. I just bought my matt medium yesterday to use for experimenting with more said mixed media creations. Thanks Dede for your guidance and teaching me this new way.
